Militant Islam comes an' goes an' lingers in the background, historically. ISIL're just an opportunist extension of that background noise; Afghan Mujahideen > AQ > ISIL/Bokoloons/Al Shabby etc. - this latest incarnation is a response to largely Western created power vacuums & national corruptions. Cynical, partisan, inorganic interventions in fractured, inorganic 'nations' are (almost) always going to end badly without genuine law, equality and alturism for all. I don't buy the western pawns bit at all, it's just sheer bloody incompetance and militarist/Neocon/unfettered capitalist opportunism, and if you destroy a nation, you make your own relatively stronger. We live in a world -'our' part of which- is pretty safe, but have you seen the news recently? Scary stuff - "ISIL, a threat to world civilization", and said with a straight face too. >wibble<
I need to read-up on Eisenhower's concerns over the military-industrial-(congressional) complex, I'm pretty sure he was onto something, proto-Lockheed maybe.

Martin Luther King - "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."
Albert Camus - "The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion".

Albert Camus - "Nothing is more despicable than respect based on fear."
