Quote:Lauren, you should be a script writer for true politics... ::laughingdog::
This is my wake up at 3am and do this play in my head thingy. I would imagine some really good screen writer work this thing up. I imagine Cheney flipping from one personage to another as Bush regresses to helpless dependence. Maybe he could flip from calling him Mr. President, to George, to some nicname from his past.
[Camera on split screen with Cheney on right, Bush on left. Head shots with phones in hand.]
Cheney: Look, George. I regret to inform you but,... well, uhh, we can't find the girls. Do you know where they are?
Bush: They're with Laura, aren't they?
Cheney: You mean you don't know where your own kids are?
Bush: Uhhh ...
Cheney: Georgie, Jesus Fucking Christ. [Pause for effect. He "calms" himself].
Cheney: OK, look, I apologize, Mr. President. Things are a little out of control here.
[Cheney catches the eye of a military aide and winks. He points toward the phone and rolls his eyes and shakes his head and smirks.]
Bush: Ya gotta find him. You know they mean everything to me.
Cheney: Consider it done, Mr. President.
[holding phone away from his mouth but Bush "overhearing" the orders. Cheney speaking in a calm, but no nonsense voice]
Cheney to man dressed in civilian clothes: John, get a unit of your best men. Go find those girls. And ... make sure they bring a lot ammo. If they have been kidnapped, they have to be ready to do an extraction.
Bush: Kidnapped. What? what are you saying?
Cheney: We just don't know you. The evil doers are capable of anything. That's what evil is. We have to be ready for the unknown unknowns.
Bush: Dick. I am so glad you are there handling things. My Dad told me you were the one for VP. Jesus, was he ever right... Blah blah...
