The core internet institutions abandon the us government
#2
I support getting all of the major [and minor] control structures of the Internet out of the hands of the US, but that is easier said than done. They have most of the major pathways and nodes; they have most of the satellites and cables that transmit it; they have most of the levers of control and won't give 'em up without a fight and dirty tricks; they have the companies in their borders that make most of the software in which they put NSA backdoors...and more. The UK and Israel are likely the #2s in this and have their own and coordinated with US agreements to control the internet - as well as spy on it and be able to shut it down, if they like. I wish us all luck in this endeavor. At least a start has been made!

"Civil disobedience is not our problem. Our problem is civil obedience! People are obedient in the face of poverty, starvation, stupidity, war, and cruelty. Our problem is that grand thieves are running the country. That's our problem!" - Howard Zinn
