The Petras thesis that FDR let Pearl Harbor Happen, but was FDR really in charge of American Foreign and Defense Policy ? Stimson, Skull & Bones, was Decretay of War, and Knox, Landon's 1936 running mate was his Secretary of the Navy. Was the 'top brass', of the US Military establishment, such as MacAuthur, Kimmel,et al, pro FDR, or were they ulta right wing who served Wall Street & Mammon ? George Morgenstern, of the editorial board of Col.. Robert McCormick's Chicago Tribune, a Roosevelt hating newpaper, was among the first to accuse FDR of pre Pearl Harbor attack knowledge. Has the Tribune, editorially, ever been right about anything. Morgerstern's book was published by Regnery, an ulta right publisher. Was FDR told of the impending attack by his intelligence agency heads, who were for the most part, ultra right Republicans, if not out & out fascists. Maybe the attempted anti FDR,coup, financed by the DuPonts, & others had something to with Roosevelt appointing GOP'ers to his post 1940 cabinet. Mr Sutton writing in " Wall Street & FDR ", wrote that FDR needed GOP supprt for his pre-Pearl Harbor war efforts, by this reasoning FDR needed to woo Wall Street Republican in order to get Midwest, and other GOP Congressmen support for the coming war. Isolationist GOP'ers would never support Roosevelt's policies, especially concering war. IMO it is more likely that Wall Street, after the attempted coup, told FDR support OUR policies or we will get rid of you, anyway that we can. Remember the failed assassination attempt before he was President, that did kill Chicago Mayor Anton Cermak, maybe the "they", that really run the country were hoping for a "2 for back" in 1933.
