Hmmm......Come to think of it, while some Israelis have a distinctive English accent [though that could be gotten rid of], a good number of Israilis have an American accent when they speak English and many have lived in or have dual citizenship in the USA. They also [most Israelis] have quite in depth knowledge of American values, mores, speech patterns, behaviors and culture. Not that other intel agencies have posed as others [I'm sure the Americans and British have often impersonated one another], but it is fairly easy for Israeli to pull something like this off compared to many countries. Very interesting, indeed. One wonders if there were other such events.....
