Rather, I was addressing the misconception that thermite is inherently unable to do pressure/volume work specifically, by providing examples of thermite doing just that. Sure, the thermite being using in the examples is an incendiary rather than an explosive, but it does do some pressure/volume regardless, hence the popping sounds which can be heard during the reactions.
