Only Great Minds Can Read This...
#6
Is anyone else familiar with what in American folk history is referred to as Carny Talk?

This variation on "Pig Latin" allegedly was developed by itinerant carnival workers/circus roustabouts for the same reasons that all pseudo-secret languages are developed.

Carny Talk is meant for verbal use and doesn't translate well onto the written page.

Here is my best attempt at writing what is meant to be spoken.

If an individual, through either his own volition or events over which he had no control, found himself taking up residence in a country undefined by flags or physical borders, he could be assured of one immediate and abiding consequence: He was on his own, and solitude and loneliness would probably be his companions unto the grave.

You can't blame the innocent, they are always guiltless.  All you can do is control them or eliminate them.  Innocence is a kind of insanity.
