This from Al Jazeera today:Quote:Debka file insists that Netanyahu did not go to Russia:That's from a reliable mouthpiece of the Israeli State clearly trying to counter embarrassing revelations in other major Israeli papers. IOW, the likelihood is that he DID go.
Our sources confirm as unfounded the media claims that prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu traveled secretly to Moscow Monday, Sept. 9 for talks with Russian leaders. He did not leave the country at all, either for Moscow or any other destination.
The erroneous accounts of his putative trip have caused the Israeli government acute diplomatic embarrassment. Wednesday, Russian president Dmitry Medvedev and prime minister Vladimir Putin officially denied that they or any other high-ranking Russian officials had held talks with the Israeli prime minister or met him in Moscow.
Quote:Secret visitAnd this from Debka File:
In the interview, Medvedev also confirmed that Binyamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, made a secret visit to Moscow earlier this month that included a meeting with the Russian president
Netanyahu's office said he had been visiting a secret security facility on September 7, but there was an angry response in the Israeli media after it emerged that he may have travelled to Russia instead.
There was widespread speculation that he had gone to Russia to pressure Moscow not to deliver a number of S-300 air-defence missiles to Iran, but Medvedev did not reveal the purpose of the meeting.
Quote:In a CNN interview Sunday, Sept. 20, Russian president Dmitry Medvedev said "Israeli colleagues" had told him they are not planning to attack Iran. He confirmed Israeli prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu had visited Moscow two weeks ago and had also met with him, but asked to keep the visit secret. It was a surpise, no notice visit that the Israeli government tied hard to keep secret. I have a sneaking suspicion that Medvedev was the one springing the surprise and that it may well have been along the lines outlined in post #30 - and maybe informing Netanyahu that the Iranians already had an operational S300 capability. Bit of a game-changer if that IS the case.
