UK terror threat raised to 'severe', Home Secretary announces - Jan Klimkowski - 22-01-2010 Quote:UK terror threat raised to 'severe', Home Secretary announces http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/terrorism-in-the-uk/7056220/UK-terror-threat-raised-to-severe-Home-Secretary-announces.html BOHICA time. :bootyshake::bootyshake: UK terror threat raised to 'severe', Home Secretary announces - Magda Hassan - 23-01-2010 Don't worry. All will be well and safe. They are looking after us. http://www.deeppoliticsforum.com/forums/showthread.php?p=15612#post15612 UK terror threat raised to 'severe', Home Secretary announces - Peter Lemkin - 23-01-2010 Quote:This means that a terrorist attack is highly likely, but I should stress that there is no intelligence to suggest than an attack is imminent.Absolutely Orwellian or Clockwork Orangian...... When I flew into the USA two summers ago, at Denver airport a synthetic and overly loud voice kept repeating "Security Condition Orange - Report Any Strange Looking Persons Or Unattended Luggage" We keep talking about 'what if'....that 'what if', quite a few years ago, became what is. :ciao: It DID happen HERE. :vroam: UK terror threat raised to 'severe', Home Secretary announces - Jan Klimkowski - 24-01-2010 Apparently it's largely Blair's fault, as he's finally appearing at the so-called Iraq Inquiry later this week: Quote:Blair will take his place amid intense security, with mass protests expected in Westminster. Sources close to Scotland Yard said Blair's appearance had been a major factor behind the government's decision to raise the terror threat level from "substantial" to "severe". http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2010/jan/24/iraq-chilcot-inquiry-michael-wood UK terror threat raised to 'severe', Home Secretary announces - Peter Lemkin - 24-01-2010 Jan Klimkowski Wrote:Apparently it's largely Blair's fault, as he's finally appearing at the so-called Iraq Inquiry later this week: So, there really WILL BE a TERRORIST making his way right into the inquiry!! Will they let him go?....you can bet your *** they will....... UK terror threat raised to 'severe', Home Secretary announces - Peter Presland - 24-01-2010 Peter/Jan The 'Stop the War Coalition' have a major event planned for Blair's appearance. I have mixed feeling about the organisation and its effectiveness (or lack of it). It's clearly shot through with SIS operatives. That said, it did put over a million people on the streets of London back in early 2003 and many of those involved are sincere and full of angry idealism so criticising them is probably a bit unfair. Any way, here is their latest call to action for Blair's appearance: Quote:1) THE PEOPLE'S VOICE ON BLAIR'S JUDGEMENT DAYI have a sneaky feeling (and very much hope) it will get major support. Tongue-in-cheek, Craig Murray (former UK ambassador to Uzbekistan) has this to say: Quote:Options for Tony Blair 29 January - Tips From an Ex Senior Civil ServantHound the B*****d I say - and keep on hounding him. UK terror threat raised to 'severe', Home Secretary announces - Peter Presland - 25-01-2010 In my previous post I had meant to ask (somewhat rhetorically) 'just what IS the purpose of these 'terrorist attack risk level warnings anyway? Since anyone with a modicum of intelligence can calculate that the odds of being harmed by a 'terrorist attack' are not much greater than that of winning the National Lottery Jackpot two weeks running, just how is our behaviour supposed to change with a 'raised warning level'? Are we perhaps supposed to pay 10% more attention to bearded males carrying rucksacks - or maybe 22.5% more? - something like that?? And what about venturing out of the house when the odds of being killed on our roads are maybe 100,000 times more severe! - clearly we ought to be scared shitless about that. Anyway in the interests of doing my bit in this charade, here is what MI5 have to say on the subject as of this morning: Quote:Members of the public should always remain alert to the danger of terrorism and report any suspicious activity to the police on 999 or the anti-terrorist hotline: 0800 789 321. If your information does not relate to an imminent threat, you can also contact the Security Service via the How You Can Help us page.BTW The MI5 site is a treasure -trove of startling information about 'International terrorism' that you would never have known - as in: Quote:The US, UK and Israel, and their representatives overseas, remain the prime targets for international terrorist networks, particularly Al Qaida.Note the spelling of bin Laden's uh Christian name - trendy stuff eh? It really does remind me of a patronising adult explaining all about Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy to an anxious 5 year old. I'm sure they'll be ever so grateful for the link. UK terror threat raised to 'severe', Home Secretary announces - Magda Hassan - 25-01-2010 TERRORIST THREAT / LEVELS :- Reports indicate that the English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent terrorist threats and have raised their security level from 'Miffed' to 'Peeved'. Soon, though security levels may be raised yet again to 'Irritated' or even 'A Bit Cross'. Londoners have not been 'A Bit Cross' since 'the blitz' in 1940 when tea supplies all but ran out. Terrorists have been re-categorised from 'Tiresome' to a 'Bit of a Nuisance.' The last time the British issued a 'Bit of a Nuisance' warning level was during the great fire of 1666. Also, the French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from 'Run' to 'Hide.' The only two higher levels in France are 'Surrender' and 'Collaborate.' The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France's white flag factory, effectively paralysing the country's military capability. It's not only the English and French that are on a heightened level of alert: Italy has increased the alert level from ' Shout Loudly and Excitedly' to 'Elaborate Military Posturing.' Two more levels remain: 'Ineffective Combat Operations' and 'Change Sides.' The Germans also increased their alert state from 'Disdainful Arrogance' to 'Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs.' They also have two higher levels: 'Invade a Neighbour' and 'Lose.' Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual, and the only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels. The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy. These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy. UK terror threat raised to 'severe', Home Secretary announces - Peter Presland - 25-01-2010 Bloody Hell Magda!!!! That produced yet another 'coffee expelled all over the keyboard' episode (the last one was something from Ed J as I recall) A real tonic - as in 'since you can do bugger all else about their ridiculous patronising crap then laugh at them - and make sure they know you're laughing. Where did you get it? Deserves wider exposure methinks. UK terror threat raised to 'severe', Home Secretary announces - Magda Hassan - 25-01-2010 Ah, yes, we had to recently replace one of our keyboards too. Well, it was sent to me by email from a dear friend some years ago, when all this bs started. I kept it because I knew it would be an evergreen. Do feel free to spread it around :pcguru: It does need to have a wider audience to counter the latest 'threat level' :marchmellow: |
