Either way. I don't think you'll find a Carcano that doesn't leak significant nitrate residue when fired. I think the FBI tests were criminally faked like much of the other evidence.

The trouble with that is the horizontal axis requires that any shot from that zone would have to go through the windshield.

^ Hello Albert,

Sorry to disagree. You may be assured that Ms. Fiester's conclusions on this subject have not been the result of only a casual assessment. I'm hopeful that all who are interested and open-minded will avail themselves of the ground breaking contemporary forensic research that is the foundation of Ms. Fiester's essential book, Enemy Of The Truth: Myths, Forensics, and the Kennedy Assassination. This material could not have been written prior to the emergence of new studies which have been peer reviewed and are now being applied in criminal investigations around the world. Ms. Fiester's work, as applied to President Kennedy's crime scene reconstruction, is the progress that so many of us have awaited for so long.

And if it were through the windshield, Weldon-Whitaker scenario supported by Evalea Glanges and a half dozen others.

Robert "Tosh" Plumlee has something to say--and Mitch WerBell is the gun that didn't bark.

Groden is up to 81 witnesses to the right occipital wound--from the temple entry, Thom Robinson and others having seen the hole he "filled with a little wax"

The incised inverted vee in the stare of death photo, the Malcolm Kilduff mimicry of Malcolm Perry's description, Perry the so-dangerous truth-teller

The shooter's position was elevated enough that the windshield wouldn't have been in the way.

Can anyone demonstrate this with photographic evidence or a schematic diagram. To me the angle risks striking the driver, Mrs. Connally, and Jackie, from the south Knoll position, The more central overpass position maybe, but it's hard to believe a shooter wouldn't have been noticed there. IMO a shot from the very northwest most corner of the roof of the Post Office building might be high enough to clear the windshield and avoid hitting others besides Kennedy. But these trajectories assume a FMJ bullet that maintains a straight line trajectory. The evidence suggests a frangible bullet that wouldn't necessarily behave that way.

That's why I mention the horizontal axis. If you draw a line from Kennedy's right temple entry wound to just above the windshield and beyond I'm pretty sure it would be way up in the air above the South Knoll.

The problem with Glanges' windshield bullet hole is it was captured by Altgens prior to the headshot.

I totally believe Dennis David's right front entry wound. And we all know at least one shot came from the Grassy Knoll. I'm just having trouble making it compute.

I have not read this book but while speaking with a long time JFK researcher last night I was told that Sherry's MO is to dispute eyewitness accounts from that day.
Said researcher has not read the book either. Anyone notice anything of this nature in the book?

Hello Dawn,

I wonder if the person with whom you spoke intended the term "MO" in a pejorative sense? I hope not. It's difficult enough presenting ground breaking research that challenges sacred dogmas without being diverted by protestors who, as was the case with Monty Python's Life of Brian, and Martin Scorsese's The Last Temptation of Christ, haven't seen the film.

Ms. Fiester does not dispute or attempt to discredit any witnesses. Chapter 2, Ear Witnesses uses current forensics to explain how different people experienced this dramatic sequence in different ways. I have found nothing within the pages of the book stating that any claims associating the infamous grassy knoll with something that sounded like a shot or something that looked like smoke are based upon lies or deceit. In fact, Ms. Fiester accepts the idea that a shot was fired from that location.

As Phil's most eloquent and informative review outlines, Ms. Fiester's "MO" is in the introduction and application of contemporary -- as recent as 2011 -- developments in forensics which are applicable to our decades long struggle to interpret aspects of this horrendous event. We did the best we could and no one is blaming anybody for mistaking the various stations and stages along the way as ultimate destinations. New developments in the emerging (last two decades) fields of Ms. Fiester's areas of expertise have important things to tell us about what we thought we knew. I believe this is news. CSI has finally caught up with the nightmare of Dallas.

The book has the following chapters:

Chapter 1: Dallas PD Followed Protocol
Chapter 2: Ear Witnesses
Chapter 3: Blood in Zapruder is Faked
Chapter 4: The Limo Stop
Chapter 5: Ballistics Prove One Shooter
Chapter 6: The Grassy Knoll Headshot
Chapter 7: Two Headshots
Chapter 8: The Single Bullet Theory
The Witnesses

With the exception of the distinctly personal style of "The Witnesses" in relation to the preceding chapters, each topic is professionally addressed through description, forensic evaluation, and summation. Ms. Fiester's conclusions refute our inherited mythologies associated with each of those issues.

I'm aware of some controversy about who may actually have said this famous line credited to Arthur Schopenhauer:

All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.'

I think Enemy of the Truth: Myths, Forensics, and the Kennedy Assassination by Sherry P. Fiester is important. I hope all who are interested will discover for themselves something of value there.

Thank you for reading.

I read the eight chapters as a chain of proof of a frontal headshot to the absolute exclusion of the single- or "magic-" bullet theory.

The scientific discussion of "ear witnesses" goes to the dearth of such evidence of a South Knoll shot.

Due to the acoustics of the Plaza and the advent of the silencer, absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

McHugh normally rode between the driver and the front seat right side agent--but not that day.

Vince Palamara confirmed this.

The president was uniquely insecure.

The Secret Service had sent the limousine back to Hess & Eisenhardt in August of 1961 for removal of the privacy window.

Connally was down and out of the way. Kellerman and Greer were at the respective ends of the front bench. The field goal was made.

Right temple to right occipital.

Not right temple to left temple.
