US/NATO War on Russia - Lauren Johnson - 24-04-2014 Anne-Marie Slaughter thinks so Unbelievable. US/NATO War on Russia - Magda Hassan - 24-04-2014 Anne Marie looks like she is an idiot. However, they gave that idiot a job at the Statte Department. That's a worry. From paragraph 2 Quote:Many argue that Obama's climb-down from his threatened missile strikes against Syria last August emboldened Russian President Vladimir Putin to annex Crimea. But it is more likely that Putin acted for domestic reasons to distract Russians' attention from their country's failing economy and to salve the humiliation of watching pro-European demonstrators oust the Ukrainian government he backed.Has she seen the US economy lately? Or for the last 30 years or so? Do we not think this may not be a distraction from US domestic politics? Pro-European prosters? Really? Some sure but many were paid. And as we see most were fascists. Putin knows a colour revolution when he sees one. I could go on........... US/NATO War on Russia - Peter Lemkin - 24-04-2014 I think both 'sides' are playing this wrong/cynically and for their own geostrategic interests [not for the interests of the affected people]. Russia is making an illogical claim that 'Russians' needing its protection will be militarily protected - with these 'Russians' defined as those who speak Russian as opposed to ethnic Russians [the second having some validity - the first NONE!]....it would be like the US/UK/OZ saying they'd militarily intervene to respond to the request of any English-speakers requesting help. During the Soviet period, most [not all] learned and used Russian as their primary language, no matter what their ethnicity or regional affiliation. Language doesn't define a national group, although a national group usually shares a language. This whole thing is messed up beyond belief. No 'good guys' on either side, IMHO. Both sides doing provocations and cruising for bruising - lets only hope it won't be a nuclear one! There are many bad side outcomes to this...just one [minor] one is if Russia cuts off cooperation on the International Space Station, the US will have no rockets to resupply the station. The range is endless - from currency wars to real hot wars - and everything in between. On the West, this seems driven by the military and neocons; Can't tell what groupings are driving this on the Russian side, but Putin has made it clear he thinks the dismemberment of the USSR was a mistake and would like to see it re-assembled in an economic block, if not a political confederation. NATO and the USA would like to 'finish' destroying the remnants of the USSR, then move on to China and a few others.....to perfect their 'empire'. Total madness all around. One can easily find one side committing more egregious acts at any place and time, but nowhere is sanity prevailing or growing. IMHO. : :
US/NATO War on Russia - Magda Hassan - 24-04-2014 Yeah, the whole nationalistic thing sucks anywhere. But that is the language of the Ukrainian fascists. They are the ones who implemented the language restrictions on other Ukranians and that is why the Ukrainians who still wish to speak Russian or Moldavian or Polish or any other language look to Russia to protect their intersts. Russia did not start this. Lavrov is pushing for Ukranian federalisation where each region can decide for themselves. I see this as the only rational thing to go for. The US is a long way from home, not a disinterested player and part of the problem. They really should do the right thing and just fuck off completely and take NATO with them. Sadly, the US never thinks of itself as 'a long way from home'...as we are destined by a god to soon rule the Planet - and we have bases in about 80% of all countries - often many bases in some countries. Our 'backyard' goes right up to the 'backyards' of those we don't yet include in ours - and none in the US military nor elites think there is anything 'strange' about that.....The Monroe doctrine somehow expanded into the Reagan and then Bush 'doctrines'...expanding our 'backyard' to be Planet-wide and only exclude those not yet assimilated [Borg-style]. All large countries, most medium and even some [not all] small nations are run by the criminally insane class. Very sad our species is so inept now at treating others properly....or even treating their 'own' properly. Big anything is usually wrong and dangerous, and we best break into smaller and regional/interest/language/cultural groupings - with loose federation possible to larger entities - or soon perish. This is also needed on for environmental reasons, as well as political ones. Not likely anytime soon...or soon enough. I still think Ukraine could easily, even without plan, develop into something Big and Ugly...and could easily spread..... I live near the Castle of Prague and just went out to walk my dog...only to find [to my surprise] the street closed and crawling with Ninja-Tactical Police. I couldn't even take the dog to the park, as I didn't have my official residence permit on me. The security seems so tight this year [this happens every year] because Ukraine is invited...as are all states that border the Western edge of Russia [plus the CZE and a few others not touching Russia]. Anyway, my street today and tomorrow is the safest or least safe in all of Prague today!:p US/NATO War on Russia - Lauren Johnson - 24-04-2014 SITREP from the Saker Quote:Wow! But why do it in such a hurry? A Russian economist claims that he know s the answer, alluding to the link between the latest international crisis and the fate of the US currency. © 20052014 The Voice of Russia US/NATO War on Russia - Peter Presland - 25-04-2014 Paul Rigby Wrote:Battlefield Eastern Europe: The Anglo-American Alliance VS. US/NATO War on Russia - Peter Lemkin - 25-04-2014 I'm going to guess that major fighting will break out on May 1 [May Day] - a big holiday and a symbolic day for all sides. The number of deaths, kidnappings and incidents is increasing each day. Both sides are using the media to show their determination and damage they will wreck on the other. It is very troubling.....more so were I am, which is not far away. Several international observers were kidnapped, some grenades tossed, some persons killed today in the Ukraine. It is quickly going to spin out of control..... Sadly, at the moment, I don't think those leading either side see any advantage in a peaceful resolution of differences. |
