On the day that JFK was assassinated, the White House was not on a high level national security alert. And that is because Lyndon Johnson, elements of the CIA, elements of the military knew the assassination was coming and it was not the Russians or Cubans who did it. It was them. Lyndon Johnson, however, did find time to make a call from Parkland Hospital to his tax attorney to sell his Halliburton stock. Btw, Halliburton stock RALLIED over the next 2 days following JFK's assassination.

Lyndon Johnson calling his tax lawyer to sell his Halliburton stock on the day

of JFK’s assassination

LBJ makes call from Parkland Hospital;

JFK’s corpse was still warm at this point

[From Family of Secrets by Russ Baker, p. 132]

Pat Holloway, former attorney to both Poppy Bush and Jack Crichton, recounted to me an incident involving LBJ that had greatly disturbed him. This was around 1PM on November 22, 1963, just as Kennedy was being pronounced dead. Holloway was heading home from the office and was passing through the reception area. The switchboard operator excitedly noted that she was patching the vice president through from Parkland Hospital to Holloway’s boss, firm senior partner Waddy Bullion, who was LBJ’s personal tax lawyer. The operator invited Holloway to listen in. LBJ was talking “not about a conspiracy or a tragedy,” Holloway recalled. “I heard him say: ‘Oh I gotta get rid of my goddamn Halliburton stock.’ Lyndon Johnson was talking about the consequences of his political problems with his Halliburton stock at a time when the president had been officially declared dead. And that pissed me off… It really made me furious.”
There are many other examples of LBJ’s apparent unconcern after the assassination, though none so immediate. For instance, on the evening of November 25, LBJ and Martin Luther King talked, and LBJ said, “It’s just an impossible period – we’ve got a budget coming up.” That morning he told Joseph Alsop that “the President must not inject himself into, uh, local killings,” to which Alsop immediately replied, “I agree with that, but in this case it does happen to be the killing of the President.” Also, on the same day LBJ told Hoover, “We can’t be checking up on every shooting scrape in the country.”

The reason Lyndon Johnson was pleading/demanding that Jackie ride in his car in the Texas motorcades was because he did not want her brains to get blown out, too. Because Lyndon Johnson thought he was a gallant "Southern gentleman." But slaughtering her husband, and father of her two children and the President of the United States was a great idea in the sociopathic mind of Lyndon Johnson. Also, on the morning of the assassination in Dallas (11/22/63) Johnson was trying to get John Connally in his car and put Ralph Yarborough into the kill zone in JFK's car.

Sen. George Smathers, U.S. Congress 1946-1968: I came back to Washington with the President. He was lying down. They had a bed in the Air Force One for him to lie on. So he said, “Gee, I really hate to go to Texas. I got to go to Texas next week and it’s just a pain in the rear end and I just don’t want to go. I wish I could get out of it.” And I said, “Well, what’s the problem?” He said, “Well, you know how Lyndon is.” Lyndon was Vice President. “Lyndon wants to ride with me, but John Connally is the governor and he wants to ride and I think that protocol says that he’s supposed to ride and Johnson wants Jackie to ride with him.” And Connally was, at that time, a little bit jealous of Lyndon and Lyndon was a little jealous of him, so it’s all these fights were going on. He said, “I just don’t want to go down in that mess. I hate to go. I wish I could think of a way to get out of it.”

I asked a fellow JFK researcher: Does it seem funny that Lyndon Johnson would be asking to be in JFK’s car if Lyndon knew that JFK was going to be slaughtered in a kill zone during the motorcade? The key point is that nothing that Lyndon Johnson ever did in his life justifies giving him “the benefit of the doubt.” Precisely the opposite. And here was his reply:

Re: “But the part that puzzles me is Johnson wanting to ride with Kennedy.”

JFK Researcher: I wouldn’t worry about this at all, and here’s why:

The Smather’s on-camera statement was made decades later, so there has to be some allowance here for a slight jumbling in recollection and “re-transmission”

(and more important) :very likely, Lyndon—when he talked to JFK about this-- dissembled (as he always seemed to do), beat around the bush, and very likely sent a confusing message to JFK, which, in the re-telling to Smathers, may have been jumbled (and/or misunderstood) ; and then we have (as noted in my point 1) the re-telling, by Smathers, to a camera, decades later.

So this is a very interesting problem of separating “the signal from the noise” (as they say in information theory); and I think what is truly important is that Smathers remembers JFK complaining, on 11/18, and on a ride aboard AF-1 from Florida, that (a) he didn’t want to go to Texas and (b) among the many problems he had to deal with was this business of LBJ wanting Jackie to ride with him.

This interview by Smathers provides really excellent “first hand” evidence of the extent to which JFK was being personally lobbied, by his own Vice President, on matters pertaining to the Texas trip—i.e., on getting him to go there (to Texas, AND to Dallas) in the first place; and then to the extent of the actual configuration of which car she would ride in, in the Dallas motorcade (!). If it weren’t for Smathers, all we’d have is the mealy-mouthed cop-out language of Sorensen, and others like him.

3. Also, please do note the logical problem if LBJ really wanted to ride with JFK: IF that little snippet of a quote were to be taken seriously (and I do not take it seriously), then the actual configuration (i.e. Car-seating) would be that Lyndon Johnson would want to be in the same car as JFK, so if that were to be so—then how could it then be that LBJ “wanted Jackie to ride with him”? The phrase “ride with him” implies separate cars. Clearly.

And, finally, for the same reason that the President and the vice President do NOT ever fly on the same aircraft, I am positive that—just on those grounds alone—it would be a complete violation of security for the President and the Vice Presient to appear in an open car together.

So my appraisal of this “re-transmission” (by Smathers) of what he heard JFK saying, is that: (a) Lyndon was making a bunch of noise, complaining about this and that; and (b) buried in that “noise” was his real message; and that his real message was that he, as a “galaant” Texas, wanted the President’s wife to ride with him. I think that the rest of what Smathers heard—or thinks he heard, and then re-transmitted, in this interview—is simply false.

And again, let me repeat my reasons for saying so. . .

Because:

(1) Common sense rules out that the Pres and the Vice Pres would ride in the same limo. (Ever).

(2) IF LBJ really wanted “to ride with JFK,” then his request that he wanted Jackie “to ride with him” would make no logical sense.

OK. . . Those are my beliefs about this remarkable little piece of information.

First of all; I think its valid; and secondly, it shows what a sneaky bastard LBJ was—to try to actually lobby the President so that he would not have his wife within inches, and it would make him an easier target.

Of course—had LBJ succeeded in this gambit, he would have to have had a lot of explaining to do afterwards, to credibly explain why Jackie was not seated next to her husband, in Dallas, as she obviously was in other cities.

JFK Researcher #2 commented on George Smathers’ comments:
I agree that Smathers' interpretation of "Johnson wants to ride with me" was in error. Secret Service regulations forbade the President and Vice-President riding together in the same car. At the time of the Dallas visit, there was a feud going on between Texas Democrats with the conservatives of the Johnson-Connally faction against the more liberal Democrats led by Sen. Ralph Yarborough, a JFK supporter. Yarborough was the one riding in Johnson's car with LBJ and Lady Bird.

It has been reported that on the morning of the assassination, LBJ came to the President's suite at the Hotel Texas in Fort Worth and a loud argument broke out between the men. The subject of their disagreement, it was said, was the seating arrangements for the Dallas motorcade. Johnson, it appears, was making a last ditch attempt to get Connally out of JFK's car by using the excuse that Yarborough didn't want to ride with HIM. (Which was true.) But I believe that the seating arrangements were for a purpose --- to show solidarity by having Connally with JFK and Yarborough with LBJ, so there was NO WAY JFK was going to budge on the seating arrangements.

Had Kennedy yielded to Johnson's demands, which would have put Yarborough in JFK's limo, Yarborough, instead of Connally, would have been shot along with Kennedy.

More on that in a second.

H.L. Hunt, Johnson's financial backer and mentor, had a religious foundation called the LIFELINE FOUNDATION. It enjoyed religious status and Federal exemption from income taxes. But in its weekly radio broadcasts, its messages were more political than religious and and when I say political, I mean anti-JFK.

In the weeks before the assassination, Hunt's radio program blasted the Administration and its policies.

It accused JFK of bypassing Congress to follow a line enunciated from Moscow.

It was a time, Lifeline broadcasts cried, for "extreme patriotism".

( Source: POWER TO DESTROY, The Political Uses of the IRS from Kennedy to Nixon by John A. Andrew III,, published by Ivan R. Dee, Chicago 2002-- pg 97)

Many of the funds that were "donations" to these tax-exempt religious organizations were in fact earmarked for right-wing extremist groups. These religious organizations allowed contributors to make donations to right-wing extremist groups and receive a tax deduction for them.

In 1961, the President asked Walter and Victor Reuther to come up with a plan to combat these extreme right-wing forces. Known as the "Reuther Memorandum", one of the things that the document suggested was to "choke off the flow of money to the radical right by challenging groups' tax-exempt status".

( ibid. pg 21)

Hence, the IRS' Ideological Organizations Project ( IOP ) was formed.

A March 9, 1962 IRS internal memo listed the first groups to be investigated. Among them were Hunt's Lifeline Organization ( Dallas District ) , the John Birch Society ( for which "Lifeline" was a front ) and the National Indignation Convention, Dallas District.

( ibid. pg 29)

In February 1963, ( at a time when Oswald was "buying" his weapons ), the IRS recommended revocation of the tax-exempt status for Hunt's "Life Line". Lifeline had run into problems with the IRS because "approximately 50%" of its publications were "in the nature of propaganda. These releases discussed only one side of an issue and were not consistent with the purposes of an exempt educational organization".

(ibid. pg 33 )

Now here's the kicker.

A Senate Sub-Committee was scheduled to hold hearings in January 1964 on the tax-exemption status of religious organizations with extremist political viewpoints.

The Chair of that Sub-Committee ? Sen. Ralph Yarborough of Texas.

( ibid. pg 34 )

Had Yarborough been in Kennedy's car instead of Connally, HE would have been the one shot up, not Connally. There would have been no hearings, no investigation of Hunt's organization and others.

I find this all extremely interesting in lieu of the fact that Johnson tried so hard, even up to the last minute, to change the seating arrangements for the Dallas motorcade.

If the Zapruder film were authentic, then I'd like to know why JFK researchers have been talking about the "back and to the left" movement of JFK's head all these years. I've come late to this issue, but looking at the footage, what I see at the crucial moment is a very fast snapping forward of JFK's head - forward and down to the right - and then a slower back-and-to-the-left rebound of his head.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9w6zveedj0o

To me, this indicates that the head shot came from the rear and probably to the left of JFK, pushing his head forward and to the right in a violent fashion, and because his head was still attached to his body by his neck, his head rebounded back in the direction the bullet came from.

I don't see any need to speculate about 2 bullets hitting him almost simultaneously to account for the movement of his head, until the possibility is at least put on the table and discussed that one bullet, from the rear/left, could account for the movement of his head.

And for those who think a discussion such as this is futile on account of the footage being doctored, please weigh in if you like, but since so many JFK conspiracy theorists still today rely on the Zapruder footage as evidence of conspiracy, I reserve the right to assume for the sake of argument that the footage is authentic.

One last thing I'd like to throw in the mix: There is controversy over some eyewitness reports that "the back" of JFK's head was "missing", and that this doesn't match the post-mortem pictures released of JFK, but I sometimes wonder whether, by saying "the back" of his head, were eyewitnesses merely indicating that his face itself was left intact, and the damaged area was behind his hairline? i.e. "the back" as in "not the front", the front being his face.

...
LBJ

While the Mafia, CIA, Russians, Cubans and any number of groups could have killed Kennedy, Tatro said, they could not get Kennedy's car to drive only 11 mph without a bubbletop through Dealey Plaza in Dallas.

That came from within LBJ's powerful inner circle and some of the Secret Service, according to Tatro, who did not have kind words about the 36th president of the United States.

“He was one of the most amoral human beings who ever lived,” he said. “I think he's second only to Hitler.”
...
Johnson was friends with FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover and had information about Kennedy's womanizing and other issues and bribed his way into being on the ticket, Tatro said.

He said notes from Kennedy's former secretary, Eleanor Lincoln, indicated that JFK wanted to drop LBJ from the ticket.

“So, there's your motive,” he said.

Trip to Texas

On April 23, 1963, Johnson went on Texas radio to announce that Kennedy would be coming to the state in the fall. Neither Kennedy or the White House ever announced that, Tatro said.

The only reason Kennedy decided to go, according to Tatro, was to attend a ceremonial dinner for an ailing Texas congressman.

Jack Valenti, who died last Thursday, invited Kennedy and was a close and loyal friend to Johnson. “That's how they got him (Kennedy) there,” Tatro said.

Valenti married Johnson's secretary, with whom Johnson had an affair, Tatro claimed. Valenti's daughter ended up tall “with big ears,” he said, alleging that Valenti's daughter was, in fact, Johnson's.
...
The route the motorcade took in Dealey Plaza was surrounded by buildings and trees, he emphasized, something that bothered Jerry Bruno, who scouted the area for security for Kennedy.

Texas Gov. John Connally, another close friend to Johnson who was sitting next to Kennedy in the motorcade and was shot, pushed for the route Bruno did not like, according to Tatro. Expressing his displeasure to Bruno's advice, Connally apparently stated, “This is not how we do it in Texas,” Tatro said, later alleging that Connally's job was to “sucker Kennedy to get (him) to Texas.”

Bruno was asked by the White House to come back to Washington, D.C., and another aide was sent to smooth over relations with Connally.

That man, Tatro said, was Bill Moyers, who is now a famous journalist and public commentator. “One of the greatest men of all time. Hogwash,” Tatro said sarcastically.

When Moyers was questioned by the House Select Committee on Assassinations, Tatro said he was “less than clear on all the details” and could not recall if he had ever even visited Dallas.
...
Those who believe Oswald was the lone gunman have the funds and technology to make their point, Tatro said, adding that people like him have limited resources.

Jack Ruby

After Ruby was convicted of killing Oswald, he wrote a lot of letters from prison.

In one of those letters, Tatro said Ruby wrote, “If you hear honking of horns, it will be me. They will want my blood.”

Tatro played an audio recording of the newscast in which Oswald was shot. In the recording, one hard honk can be heard, followed by a soft honk and then the gunshot that killed Oswald.

Tatro believes Ruby was “trying to squeal.”

Tatro noted a disparaging quote by Ruby about Johnson: “Compared to Lyndon Johnson, I am a saint.”

Ruby also made many telephone calls while in prison to powerful individuals within organized crime, but the Warren Commission never investigated, Tatro said.

In the late 1970s, the Washington Post published an editorial which stated that two shooters who did not know each other could have killed Kennedy.

Tatro downplayed the editorial and said it showed “how stupid” the Washington Post believed people were.

The Warren Commission
...
The Canadian government also destroyed documents about Oswald, Tatro said after explaining that he tried to obtain that information in 1990.

“If the guy did it alone and is a nut, what are you destroying this stuff for?” Tatro asked.

Former President Gerald Ford was a member of the commission. In 1966, he wrote a book, “Portrait of the Assassin,” which explained that Oswald acted alone.

Tatro said Ford had the book published regardless of knowing that all Warren Commission members were barred from profiting from their knowledge. The book also contained top-secret information, which Tatro said Ford did not have permission to print.

“That's treason,” he said.

Ford was never charged with any wrongdoing.

Popular but canceled

In 2003, Tatro was part of a History Channel program called “The Men Who Killed Kennedy: The Guilty Men.” Part of the program discussed Johnson's alleged involvement.

According to Tatro, it was the History Channel's highest-rated show ever and made more than $2 million in DVD sales.

After the program concluded, Johnson's former advisors, including Valenti and Moyers, demanded the show never be played on the cable network again, Tatro said.

The show was removed from the History Channel's programming.
ED TATRO ON HIS MEETING WITH VINCENT BUGLIOSI AT A BOOK SIGNING:

On Tuesday, May 22, 2007 Vincent Bugliosi spoke about his new
book, Reclaiming History, at the Brattle Theatre in Cambridge
Massachusetts. Approximately 70 patrons were there. A young girl
representing the Harvard Book Store introduced him in a highly
complimentary manner and he received a positive reception from the
crowd. I sensed immediately that I was in the minority. My best friend,
Rick Russo, a humble, but confident individual, who possesses
excellent knowledge and insights into the JFK case, filmed Bugliosi's
presentation.

Priscilla Johnson MacMillan, the journalist with CIA links,
who interviewed Oswald in Russia and subsequently pegged him in a
published article shortly after 11/22/63 as an obvious loser who must
have killed JFK, sat one row in front of me, but approximately 20
seats away. She kept turning around to look at me. I expected she
recognized me from somewhere, but couldn't remember who I was. One row
behind me, and two rows directly behind MacMillan sat a couple who
clearly recognized me, but I didn't know who they were at the time.

Bugliosi began his speech by complaining about the podium
which possessed wheels. As a result he couldn't lean on it at all. He
also complained about the instability of his microphone stand. He
admitted that he complains all the time and employs sarcasm
incessantly. He interjected an anecdote about a hotel room in which
the bathroom light didn't work unless he managed to push a switch near
the front door of his room.

He made mention about the difficulty in pronouncing his name
which clearly irritates him since he has brought the issue up at other
speaking engagements. He cited one person who called him, "Mr. Bella
Lugosi." The audienced found his schtick amusing.

The rest of the night was all business, selective preference
dripping in condescending ire. Bugliosi called Reclaiming History, "A
book for the ages." He made it clear that "Modesty is not a vitue" in
his self-absorbed mind. He felt it a necessity to be assertive and
confident in overdrive in order to assure all conspiracy theorists
that he is beyond reproach in integrity and fighting spirit, that they
just can't beat his positions on the JFK matter. He admitted that he
wanted to make a lot of money, but that marketability was second in
priority to scholarship. There is no question in my mind that Bugliosi
absolutely loves himself and intentionally projects that image, one
that also oozes with controlled disdain while on stage.

He said that he could have prosecuted Oswald in
two-three-four days, but after 44 years of conspiracy books, the JFK
assassination has become "the most complex murder case in history." It
has become a "bottomless pit" and that admission may have been his one
assertion that will not be challenged.

Basically, his speech paraphrased the introduction to his
book and the half hour filmed interview available on his web site. His
primary contention is Oswald's sole guilt. He cited that 53 pieces of
evidence confirm that Oswald alone committed the JFK and Tippit
murders and he rattled off five points concerning the matter....
Oswald owned the Carcano; he was the only TSBD employee to flee; he
killed Tippit; he pulled a gun at the theatre where he was arrested;
and he lied about owning a rifle. Bugiosi knows Oswald lied because
the backyard photos show him with the rifle.

Bugliosi boasts that "no reasonable person" can disagree
with him. The unyielding arrogance and unmitigated self-assurance of
his declarations were endless--- No credible evidence of conspiracy
exists. Bugliosi admits that motive, means and opportunity abounded
for many organizations to commit the crime, but these basics, espoused
constantly by conspiracy theorists, are just not enough. Motives prove
nothing. Besides, the FBI found no Oswald connections to groups like
the Mafia or the CIA, and no one who is "credible" has ever leaked
anything substantiating a conspiracy.

The integrity of the FBI, is obviously unquestioned by
Bugliosi as he made his assertions, and the definition of "credible"
certainly is one that might be interesting to determine if a phalanx
of reseachers were allowed open access to him in a proper forum.
Bugliosi states as fact that Oswald was such a loser that
no organization would have trusted him as a hired killer, and that the
Mob or the CIA would have killed him instantly, if they had employed
him. He cited that he has amassed 32 concrete proofs that no
conspiracy existed and those who believe in a conspriacy are either
silly or ignorant of the evidence. The simmering rage and belittling
of "conspiracy buffs" was ever-present.

Bugliosi stated that the parade route was set so late that
no conspirators could have been ready in time. To think otherwise is
just "silly." He explained the head snap as a neuro-muscular reaction,
that the Zapruder frames show a 2.3 inch forward head movement before
the eventual snap backward. And anyone who alleges that the Zapruder
film has been altered is a fool. Before answering questions from the
audience, he made it clear that no other weapons were found and no
other bullets were discovered either.

I do not claim that the above synopsis covers everything
Bugliosi offered, but it covers most of his overview. The questions
asked by the audience showed little or no knowledge of the inticate
and complex aspects of the case. Most annoying were those who gushed
over him like rock and roll groupies as well as the philosophical
questions as to why the masses would (foolishly) buy into conspiracy
theories. Such discussion never pressed Bugliosi to defend any of his
premises and the Q & A was so short-lived, there was little time to
engage him in any meaningful dialogue.

One individual named Tony Marsh, called him a liar at
one point and Bugliosi just carried on with his presentation. Marsh's
outburst tended to reinforce the idea that some "conspiracy theorists"
are obsessive and rude in their approach to the case. Audience members
behind Marsh lashed out at him later as book buyers lined up for
Bugliosi's autograph and Marsh angrily shouted back at them.

At this point I walked over to Priscilla Johnson
MacMillan and asked her if I could get a photograph of the two of us
together. The gentleman who had sat behind her offered to take the
picture. I thought I might be able to use it if I ever publish my own
book about the complicity of LBJ, his handlers and his cronies in the
Dealey Plaza caper.

She asked me who I was, and I told her that I had
testified before President Clinton's Assassination Records Review
Board (ARRB) in Boston in 1995 right after her testimony. I told her I
was a member of those who spoke in Nigel Turner's "The Guilty Men,"
that I had corresponded with Oswald's mother, was friendly with Marina
Oswald and Judyth Baker. I concluded by saying that I disagreed with
everything Bugiosi had just said.

The man who took the photo was named Paul and he told me
that he had taken my course years ago at Quincy College. His derisive
tone was such that it was evident to me that he was rejecting
EVERYTHING I had ever said in twenty-five hours of class (3,000
slides). I was momentarily stunned and a little hurt. I told him that
my class was twenty years ago and I added, "Imagine what I know now."

He replied, "Unless you can link that little weasel, Oswald, to LBJ,
you don't have a case." His constant smile was hard and unfriendly.

I tried briefly to cite a few issues, (nine witnesses
who observed a bullet hole in the windshield), but he had no intention
of listening. I was just not "there" in his closed mind. As I walked
away, knowing the futility of pursuing any meaningful interaction, I
was thinking to myself that I knew Oswald's best friend, George de
Mohrenschildt, is described in recently declassified military
documents as a "business associate" of Lyndon Baines Johnson, but
those Brattle Theatre folks wouldn't have read them if I had those
documents right in my hands.

I decided to have Bugliosi sign my book and get a
photo of him too. When I reached the signing table, I told him, "I've
known Gary Mack for thrty-five years."

His eyes lit up and a broad smile beamed. He said,
"I'll be seeing Gary Thursday."

Then I told him that I had edited Madeleine Brown's
memoirs and was a primary recruiter for those who participated in "The
Guilty Men". The smile faded.

I told him that I had read some of the book and I
said, "We will have to agree to disagree." I added that I knew a lot
of information that he didn't. He advised me to read the rest of the
book to make sure of that. I told him I would do so. He smiled again.

He wanted to know my name, and when I said, "Ed Tatro," he admitted
knowing it in some vague manner from his research.

I concluded (sarcastically), "I'm one of the kooks."

In a rather gracious moment, he said, "But you're
searching for the truth."

I replied, "Yes." I refrained from saying that I knew
a lot of it, but I didn't want to act like him, and it was clear
throughout the night that the book buyers behind me were barely
tolerating folks like me.

The line of people behind me was lengthy and I saw no
real purpose in confronting him on any issues of substance. The time,
place, and circumstances were just not conducive to anything
productive.

While in line, I had briefly offered advice to Tony
Marsh that this was no place for him to get into a shouting match,
that he was not appreciated here by this gathering, and it might be
best to keep his cool.

I managed to meet Priscilla again and she said, "Paul
told me you used to teach a course on the assassination. When is your
book coming out?" I wasn't sure I had mentioned my book previously,
but it was clear to me that she and Paul were friends. The question
was---Did they become friends later in life or were they friends when
he took my course? I don't know that answer. I do know an FBI
informant named Hollis Mosher, (identified as such in his obituary),
took my course four or five times so it shouldn't surprise me if a
friend of a CIA asset had done so also. Am I being wisely cautious or
am I paranoid? We know that Bugliosi would call the latter notion,
"just silly."

I told her that she must be thrilled with this book,
and she said she had not read it yet, but she admitted that she was
glad that Bugliosi had confronted the conspiracy theories. I spoke
candidly by telling her that many researchers had brought forth some
outrageous concepts, but for Bugliosi to lump all assassination
critics into one lump was unfair. Having earned three college degrees,
I certainly do not consider myself insane, irrational or unreasonable.
She seemed to accept that criticism, but stoically so with an
accepting shrug.

Bugliosi headed in Priscilla's direction and thanked
her profusely for her input. He told her that he could not have
written the book without her help.

The gathering was breaking up and Bugliosi's rather
sizable entourage of disciples followed him out to a waiting auto.
Rick Russo and Bugliosi began a rather intense debate over the nature
of JFK's head wounds. Rick cited many witnesses who had observed a
frontal shot, but Bugliosi rejected anything he pointed out. It's
difficult to share any meaningful postions on a street corner, one
inundated by youngsters unwilling to hear any viewpoint contrary to
Vince Bugliosi's.

One 20-something said, "No one said any shots came
from the grassy knoll that day" to another Bugliosi supporter. I
snapped, "What are you talking about? Sixty-four witnesses said shots
came from the grassy knoll."

He said, "Not that day!"

Of course, as this clown was defending his comment, I
could still picture the video of Bill Newman telling a Dallas
television crew (THAT DAY) that the shot had been fired from the
grassy knoll.

It was time to leave. I talked to one 28 year old who
admitted knowing virtually nothing, and I advised him to read as many
books as he could.

Twenty years ago I had watched Bugiosi debate Mark
Lane in Boston. After the debate ended, I engaged Bugliosi in
conversation. A lingering crowd of twenty or so observers gathered
around us. I told him that there were lots of problems with the
evidence and I gave him one example. Since I was constantly teaching a
course at the time, the names were fresh in my mind. I discussed the
chain of transfer for the "magic bullet," CE 399. The bullet was found
by hospital employee, Darrell Tomlinson who gave it to O. P. Wright, a
hospital security guard. Wright gave it to a Secret Service man named
Richard Johnsen, who brought it back aboard Air Force One. Johnsen
turned it over to James Rowley, the chief of the Secret Service and he
gave it to FBI agent Elmer Todd who gave it to Robert Frazier of the
FBI who conducted the ballistic tests upon the bullet.

Unlike Todd and Frazier, Johnson and Rowley admitted
that they never marked their initials into the bullet, a grave error
in judgment if Oswald had ever been properly brought to trial. Any
clever defense attorney would have introduced the possibilty of a
bullet switch to frame his client, particularly in a political murder
such as this.

Bugliosi dismissed the issue immediately by claiming
that errors like that occur all the time. I countered that they
shouldn't happen, especially in a case concerning the murder of the
president of the United States. It is evident to me that Bugliosi's
cavalier approach and powers of denial concerning the BIG DALLAS LIE
have existed for decades. Thus, I wasn't really surprised when his
advanced placement version of Posner's Case Closed hit the book
stores.

Now we know, thanks to the excellent research by
Josiah Thompson and Gary Aguilar, (See the History Matters web site),
that FBI agent Bardwell Odum's name was cited on FBI documents in
which hospital employees, Tomlinson and Wright stated with confidence
that the bullet they had handled had not resembled CE 399. Odum insisted to
Thompson and Aguilar that he never handled the bullet, never showed it
to the two witnesses and never wrote the FBI documents in evidence.

Furthermore John Hunt's meticulous research (see his
essays, particularly, "Frazier Speaks,") confirms that CE 399 does not
contain the carved initials of FBI agent Elmer Todd. Thus, CE 399 is
NOT the same bullet which Todd handed to FBI agent Robert Frazier. I
doubt Bugliosi even knows about Hunt's explosive essays about the
bullet/ballistic anomalies in this case.

Twenty years ago, I tried one last time with the
Manson prosecutor. I told him Emory Brown and I had discovered a
sidewalk mark consistent with a bullet scar (and a suspicious history
as well in its background), which coincided with photo blow-ups in my
possession of a human-like figure holding a rifle-like object on the
grassy knoll south, the unfamous knoll.

Bugliosi said he wanted me to send him copies and
wrote his name and address on a piece of paper. But the next night the
Boston newspapers quoted Bugliosi as saying, "Kennedy assassination
buffs are like wolves baying at the moon."

I never contacted him. I'm glad I didn't...

Suffice it to say, on May 22, 2007, Rick and I left
Cambridge with a general sense of cynicism, but with a quiet
understanding, that even if we can't win this mighty quest, that we
have much work to do in an effort to fight the good fight for the
principles of justice and democracy. We must never capitulate despite
the odds against our success. We must not allow Bugliosi's mastery of
fallacious arguments to stand unchallenged. He is a worthy adversary,
but his lone nut theory is more than "silly." It is a classic
representation of Orwellian propaganda and needs to be addressed
despite our limited resources and minmal access to the national media.

SINCERELY,
Among other things, he was instructed to find and interview Milteer days after the Assassination, but had orders to ask five specific questions - AND NO OTHERS! Years later when reading a book on the assassination he sees a photo of Milteer in DP and begins a re-appraisal of what he had been told and knew.......:elefant: He now concludes the FBI knew much more about the assassination and lied, destroyed and altered documents, LHO was not the assassin, and there were clear warnings of the assassination before - and they were suppressed and ignored [LIHOP and/or MIHOP]...and more....
An excerpt from Cyril Wecht's latest interview:

Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): Dr. Wecht, in the President John F. Kennedy case, what was the first obvious clue you had that told you there was more than one bullet fired in the assassination?

Dr. Cyril Wecht: The first obvious clue is when you look at the sine qua non Warren Commission’s report’s conclusion vis-à-vis Oswald is the sole assassin. Without the single bullet theory, there cannot be one assassin. You either have a single bullet theory, which permits you to have one shooter, or you don’t. If you don’t you’ve got to have two shooters.

There were seven wounds in two men; two large bones broken, four inches of a rib in Gov. John Connally destroyed, and the distal radius fractured extensively. Look at the trajectory which the bullet is zig zagging, the positions of the two men, and the bullet that has left pieces of itself which are demonstrable on x-ray in four different anatomic locations; one in Kennedy and three in Connally. a bullet that lost only 1 ½ percent of its total weight despite having left pieces of itself, and a bullet which emerges near pristine condition. The nose and the cone of the bullet are completely intact. There is no deformity except for the base from the impact of the firing mechanism.

The government themselves conducted an experiment with the same ammunition (6.5-millimeter military ammunition) from a Mannlicher-Carcano rifle, the alleged murder weapon. They hit one rib of a goat carcass to simulate Connally’s rib fracture then shot through a human cadaver’s wrist breaking the radius to simulate Connally’s wrist fracture. Every single bullet showed substantial overwhelming deformity and those were bullets that either hit the goat’s rib or hit the radius in the cadaver. That was their experiment, which they have refused to ever repeat.

There is the acoustic evidence also. A wonderful PhD, Don Thomas, who wrote the book Hear No Evil, correlates the shots from an auditory standpoint. In 1965 I gave a paper at the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and they devoted a full day to the Warren Commission’s report that had come out in late 1964. I was asked to represent the Pathology section, so that started me on this path and here we are in 2010 coming up on a full 45 years.

I’ve been actively involved for those years, have written many papers and chapters in books, appeared on hundreds of radio and television programs, and have probably given thousands of talks on the subject. That’s the sheer absurdity of the Warren Commission’s report. The single bullet theory is a joke.

Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): They totally dropped the ball in the original autopsy, didn’t they?

Dr. Cyril Wecht: It was done by two pathologists, Humes and Boswell, who had never done a medical legal autopsy in their entire careers. When they were called in to testify I was a member of the House Select Committee of the Assassinations Pathology Panel, which was convened in 1977 to reinvestigate the deaths of Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King.

Humes and Boswell came in and were asked, “Did you ever do a medical legal autopsy case before you did the case on Kennedy?” They said, “No.” Can you imagine? Let’s set aside politics and feelings about the president, that’s neither here nor there. This is 1963, modern times, and this is your president. This is not Abraham Lincoln in the century before and you’re going to do this autopsy after you have illegally taken the body away from Dallas! There was no law that permitted them to do that, no law in effect that permitted them to take that body out of Dallas.

There was a competent board certified forensic pathologist there, Dr. Earl Rose, at Parkland Hospital along with the local justice of the peace ready to assume jurisdiction and perform the autopsy. Okay, so they took the body illegally and delayed the autopsy for 8 hours. But, they then called in Fink from the AFIP (Air Force Institute of Pathology) who had some limited experience mostly dealing with larger type ammunition from the Vietnam War, but who was not really a practicing forensic pathologist in terms of typical kinds of gunshot wounds and so on.

They missed a bullet hole in the neck. It wasn’t until the next day they learned that there was a bullet hole in the neck. They saw only a tracheotomy until the next morning when they talked to Dr. Perry, the lead surgeon in Dallas. A guy named Tomlinson found the “stretcher” bullet while he was trying to get to the men’s room and stretchers blocked the corridor. Nobody had seen this bullet before.

When this information was conveyed to the pathologist that night at Bethesda where the autopsy was being done, incredibly they said, “Well, when the president lay on his back and they applied pressure for cardiac massage, that pressure forced a bullet back out through the hole in the back and fell onto his clothing, then from his clothing onto a stretcher.” That was the origin of the “stretcher” bullet as of that Friday night (laughs).

The next morning (November 23) when they learned the bullet had come out of the neck, then the “stretcher” bullet was now at the front of his neck. It had gone through 6 inches of soft tissue, gone through the starched collar, got frightened to death, and just plopped down right there.

Five and a half months later when they put the single bullet theory together, that same bullet became a bullet that continued on through Kennedy, through Connally’s chest, Connally’s wrist, into Connally’s side, and came out of his left thigh. That’s why I dubbed it the “magic” bullet. It will readily accommodate you, whatever you need from it at any particular point in time and will make itself available to you.

Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): They didn’t keep Kennedy’s brain, did they?

Dr. Cyril Wecht: No they did not dissect the brain. We were told it was preserved. But I discovered in 1972, when I was the first non-government forensic pathologist given access to the autopsy materials at the National Archives that the president’s brain was missing. That was in August of 1972. So here we are 38 years later and nobody has officially accounted for the president’s brain.

Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): That’s beyond belief, isn’t it?

Dr. Cyril Wecht: Yeah, unbelievable!
Less than ONE WHOLE MONTH before his death Jack Ruby was "FIT AS A FIDDLE" and no doctor had detected ANY FLAW in his health!!!

Mercury Thallium is HIGHLY TOXIC and Deadly to Humans, to be injected with it would bring about a sure and swift death!

I have 30 years of experience in Explosives and performing as a Bomb Technician.

Mercury Thallium is found in AIM-9 Sidewinder Missiles (ever watched Top Gun?). We have CRITICAL safety precautions when disarming these missiles, one of those precautions is to "AVOID CONTACT WITH THE MERCURY THALLIUM AT ALL COSTS".

Unfortunately, Ruby's Ass Cheeks weren't so lucky.

Randy

"And so Jack Ruby, on December 9, 1966, - exactly one day after he had learned that his new trial was going to be held in February or March 1967 at Wichita Falls, about 140 miles from Dallas - was stricken with a mysterious disease first diagnosed as a common cold, then as pneumonia and finally as generalized cancer.

For more than three years, with a death sentence hanging over his dead for most of the time, Ruby had been as fit as a fiddle in the custody of Dallas Sheriff Bill Decker. At no time before December 9, had the prison doctor who visited him regularly, detected any flaw in Ruby's splendid health. But now, with a new trial in prospect in a different place, death quickly overtook the man who knew perhaps more than any other living person (with the possible exception of David Ferrie, then still totally unknown to the public at large) about the real background to the assassination. He passed away in the morning of January 3, 1967 - and another inconvenient trial was happily averted."
http://www.spartacus....uk/JFKruby.htm

And a description of thallium poisoning:

"On New Year’s Day in 1988, Abdullah Ali, an Iraqi businessman who had been living in London for eight years, joined three compatriots for dinner at a restaurant called Cleopatra in Notting Hill. The next morning, he was taken ill with flu-like symptoms and was admitted to hospital. There his condition rapidly deteriorated — his hair fell out, he developed excruciating skin and joint pain, and paralysis and respiratory failure began to set in. Fifteen days later he was dead.
...
Early symptoms are similar to flu and gastroenteritis. This is followed by extreme band-like pain around the body, particularly in the feet and joints. The cause of death is usually heart or respiratory failure, as the nervous system collapses. It is an attractive tool for murder because it is soluble in water, colourless and virtually tasteless and odourless. A fatal dose can also be given in one go and the body is not good at excreting the toxin by itself."
http://www.timesonli...2461655,00.html

Certainly seems possible. The cold/flu like symptoms Ruby supposedly suffered (if we can depend on accounts of his symptoms) are described in the thallium poisonings, but wouldn't seem to jibe with cancer. Ruby's death, after about three weeks, seems awfully fast for cancer but about right for thallium.

Good chart here for time range and symptoms:
